From Fr. Frank
As I announced last weekend, on SUNDAY, JAN. 21, we will have a gathering of all those interested in possibly becoming a parish council member. The meeting will take place after the 10:00 A.M. Mass in the Parish Hall. We need a strong Council to address the many challenges facing the parish in the near future: what to do about the school building, attracting new members, stewardship and adult catechesis and lay leadership. Please consider whether or not God is calling you to become a part of the Council.
The Christmas season went beautifully because of the dedication and commitment of so many volunteers, too many to name. If you are interested in helping to plan the Lenten season which begins on Wed. Feb. 21, please come to the liturgy meeting on Wed. Jan, 24.
On Wed. Jan 31, at 7:00 P.M. in the PARISH CENTER, we will have our first meeting to address STEWARDSHIP, which means GIVING….our energy…our time and our treasure. Stewardship is a way of life in which we first give to God in gratitude for all that we have been given and at the heart of stewardship is GRATITUDE.
Hopefully, West Suburban PADS will be renting a large portion of what was the rectory. They will occupy the 2nd and 3rd floors, as well as the basement. The parish will continue day to day operations on the entire FIRST FLOOR, which will be the Parish Center. The dining room will become a large meeting room; the kitchen can be used for parish needs. I have moved into the current convent, which is what I will call the rectory and Fr. Ben will be moving into the 1st floor of the Rauzi House; the food pantry has been relocated into the basement of the Rauzi House. All old electric wiring has been brought up to code in the convent and Parish Center, making the buildings safer and usable to current needs.
This is obviously a time of transition for the parish and all transitions are messy and difficult. No one likes change, but in order to grow, we have to be open to change to accommodate new situations and challenges. And we are certainly growing, thanks to all of you.
PEACE, Fr. Frank
