From Father Frank

Fall is finally upon us!!! A warm welcome back to all from the summer holiday. We are back in full gear with all the first meetings of the “year” already past: finance council, parish council and the stewardship committee. Our future looks very hopeful with many of our parish leaders planning new programs and initiatives to strengthen our mission of serving the needs of those at the fringes of society and church. For this mission to be firmly grounded, we need to have a clearer understanding of the Church’s social teachings. It is my hope that through preaching and teaching, the basic principles of these justice teachings will be more assimilated into every aspect of parish life. The various committees, organizations, ministries and programs need to be grounded in Catholic social teachings. Our Social Outreach Committee will certainly help us to better understand and appreciate how justice does not fall under the domain of one group in the parish, but must permeate all aspects of parish life.

I want to do my part in helping parishioners understand the basics of Catholic social teaching by offering a workshop discussing a book explaining the basics of these teachings.

The Liturgy Committee will meet this Wed., Sept. 12 at 7:00 P.M. in the Parish Center. We will discuss the Anointing of the Sick Mass, All Souls, the International Fest Mass and Thanksgiving.
