Christmas 2007
From Fr. Frank
Tony Frantilla has graciously agreed to begin recruiting and training new altar servers. Any boy or girl, fifth grade and up, who is interested, please let me know and I will give Tony the information. To serve at the altar is an honor that comes with certain responsibilities: participation at Sunday Mass, a desire to serve the community and a commitment to serving when scheduled or getting a replacement. The presence of servers at the altar is essential for the graceful and prayerful celebration of the Liturgy.
Last weekend, after the announcements, the community showed their appreciation to a very special parishioner: GLADYS KURKA. Last Spring, I asked for someone to make a new stable for our Nativity scene and Gladys stepped up to the plate. I learned from her that she is a carpenter, an occupation that has some serious religious undertones. Her hard work, energy and love have created a beautiful stable that will be a part of our Christmas celebration for many years to come.
Gladys reminded me of how God comes into our lives in many surprising ways. Christmas celebrates God coming into our lives when we least expect it and in ways not anticipated. After all, His first coming occurred in a dark stable/cave and the first people to visit the stable were the Shepherds, who were considered outcasts because of their occupation. God so loved us that He became one of us…He took on our humanity so that we could take on His divinity; this is a marvelous exchange of LOVE. And wherever there is LOVE…there God is born anew. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!
